Born in 1982 in South Africa, Nandipha Mntambo is a South African artist focusing primarly on human femal body and identities. Initially interested in becoming a forensic pathologist she works with cow leather, she use as sculptural material to mold and shape, by casting her own body or her mother’s one.
She is challenging a lot of feminine stereotypes and by creating fat and hairy women she investigates the aesthetic rules women has to face everyday. In this interview she speaks of attraction and repulsion, about stereotypes and women's body.
