Kara Walker, 2007. Ph. Michele Asselin / Corbis Outline.

Kara Walker is an Afro-American artist, best known for exploring the intersection of race, gender, violence and sexuality through her iconic, silhouetted figures she deploys on different media and formats.

Together with curator Lorenzo Fusi, we met her at the Venice Biennale for a conversation that has addressed the main issues – politics, gender and identity matters – in her practice and work.
